Active control of jet mixing - Control Theory and Applications, IEE Proceedings-

چکیده
A control law to improve jet flow mixing is presented. The control law employs a pair of actuators at the jet nozzle exit that act on the shear layers near the corners by blowing and subtracting fluid in an anti-symmetric fashion and a sensor downstream or at the nozzle exit with a time delay that measures the pressure difference across the nozzle diameter. A 2-D jet flow is numerically simulated along with massless/mass particles and a passive scalar. The mixing enhancement produced by these controllers is demonstrated visually by snapshots of the vorticity, streaklines, particle distribution and scalar field. Probability function for the particles and the scalar field are constructed, which serve as an index of mixing quality and the effectiveness of the controllers. This closed-loop control law successfully alters the jet flow and improves the mixing of particles with mass and passive scalar.

Recursive approach to optimal control problem of multiarea electric energy system - Control Theory and Applications [see also IEE Proceedings-Control Theory and Applications], IEE Pr
A recursive fixed-point-type method is presented to find the optimal control of a statevariable model of the megawatt-frequency control problem of multiarea electric energy systems. The results give the numerical decomposition so that only low-order systems are involved in algebraic computations. This approach is conceptually simple and produces considerable savings of computation.

The aim of the paper is to explore the relationship between the continuous-time Riccati equation and the corresponding discrete-time equation with fast sampling. The interconnection is established by formulating the discrete case using delta operators. The application of these results to the Kalman filtering problem highlights the importance of analogue prefiltering in the sampling process. A s...
متن کاملHybrid adaptive control for tracking of rigid-link flexible-joint robots - Control Theory and Applications [see also IEE Proceedings-Control Theory and Applications], IEE Pr
A hybrid adaptive tracking controller for rigid-link flexible-joint (RLFJ) robot manipulators is designed. The controller is hybrid in the sense that an adaptive indirect controller is used to compensate for parametric uncertainties in the rigid-link equation whereas an adaptive robust controller corrects for the dynamics (i.e. mechanical flexibilities) and parametric uncertainty associated wit...
متن کاملDecoupling of descriptor systems - Control Theory and Applications [see also IEE Proceedings-Control Theory and Applications], IEE Pr
Using the descriptor standard form, the decoupling problem of the descriptor system by state feedback is studied. The descriptor system is first transformed in controller form and the necessary and sufficient conditions for the descriptor system to be integrator decoupled are obtained. Then, these conditions are shown to be necessary and sufficient for the closed-loop system poles to be assigne...
متن کاملDifferential QoS and pricing in networks: Where flow control meets game theory
The paper looks at ways of providing Quality of Service to users based on a simple pricing scheme. It is primarily aimed at elastic traffic, and it is users rather than the network who define the flow control schemes. A framework for assessing schemes and algorithms via a distributed game is presented.
